About Nevermore
Out of the wreckage of the Seattle heavy metal band Sanctuary came Nevermore, formed in 1992 by vocalist Warrel Dane, bassist Jim Sheppard and guitarist Jeff Loomis. Their music blends progressive metal, thrash and power metal, a mix that gives their albums considerable range. Drummer Van Williams, who joined in 1994, completed the early line-up.
Nevermore's self-titled debut arrived in February 1995 on Century Media after a dispute with Epic over the band's sound, and it was followed by European dates with Blind Guardian and North American shows with Death. Guitarist Pat O'Brien joined before the 1996 EP In Memory and the album The Politics of Ecstasy, recorded in Tornillo, Texas. Tim Calvert followed him and played on Dreaming Neon Black (1999), after which the quartet recorded Dead Heart in a Dead World (2000) and Enemies of Reality (2003). The Obsidian Conspiracy (2010) was their seventh studio album, before Loomis and Williams announced their departure in 2011. Dane died in December 2017, and in December 2024 Loomis and Williams announced plans to revive the band; in February 2026 a new line-up was introduced, making its live debut in Istanbul on 1 April 2026.
