Ocean Alley

Start with a backyard shed in 2011, where six musicians from Sydney's Northern Beaches began piecing together a sound that folds psychedelic rock into a loose reggae swing. The band's own phrase for it, "cruisey psych, rock and reggae fusion", is as good a map as any. Their influences range from Jimi Hendrix and Pink Floyd to The Smiths, Oasis and Dire Straits, and interwoven guitar parts have stayed a staple of their production.

Yellow Mellow arrived as their debut EP in September 2013, and touring Australia five times in their own four-wheel drive sharpened the act. The second EP, In Purple, followed in August 2015 with "Space Goat" and "Muddy Water". The independently released debut album Lost Tropics appeared in May 2016, followed by 40 shows across Europe. Chiaroscuro debuted at No. 15 on the ARIA Albums Chart in March 2018, and "Confidence" topped the Triple J Hottest 100 that year. Lonely Diamond reached No. 3 on the ARIA Chart in 2020, and Low Altitude Living followed in October 2022. Their 2024 single "Tangerine" placed at No. 15 in the triple j Hottest 100.
