About Paddy Casey
Before his songs reached the charts, Paddy Casey was busking on the streets of Dublin, a long way from the Crumlin home he had left behind. He received his first guitar at twelve and has spoken openly about his experiences of homelessness during those years. Hot Press later described him as an artist at the forefront of the Irish music scene throughout the noughties, saying his music had captured the Irish imagination.
His debut, Amen (So Be It), arrived in 1999, produced by Pat Donne, and was certified triple platinum in Ireland while entering the Australian Album Charts. The following year "Sweet Suburban Sky" appeared on the soundtrack to Dawson's Creek. Living followed in 2003 and became the second best-selling album in Ireland in 2004, spawning hits including "Saints and Sinners" and "The Lucky One". That year Casey also won the first of two consecutive Meteor Irish Music Awards for Best Irish Male. In 2006 he travelled to Los Angeles to record with George Drakoulias, and his double album Turn This Ship Around came out in August 2021.
