About Pearl Charles

Pearl Charles blends 1960s rock with 1970s cosmic country, and that meeting point sits at the heart of her music. The American singer-songwriter from Los Angeles, California, born in 1991, earned a BFA in music from CalArts. Billboard describes her vocals as subdued, set against more uptempo and playful production, and places her in a genre-blending lineage alongside Lana Del Rey and Jenny Lewis. Her catalogue so far moves between these influences with a light touch.

Her start came at 18 in the country duo the Driftwood Singers, alongside Christian Lee Hutson. She then joined the garage rock band the Blank Tapes as drummer. A solo project began in 2012, and her first solo release, a self-titled EP, arrived in 2015 on Burger Records. Kanine Records then issued her full-length debut, Sleepless Dreamer, in 2018. Away from music, she is the daughter of Larry Charles and a frequent collaborator with Los Angeles fashion designer Philip Seastrom.
