About Peter Hook and the Light
Peter Hook carries a rare pedigree into his own project, having played bass and sung in both Joy Division and New Order. Peter Hook & The Light formed in May 2010 as an English post-punk band with a clear purpose: to play that music live and in full. Alongside Hook, his son Jack Bates plays bass, while Andy Poole on keyboards and Paul Kehoe on drums both previously played with him in Monaco. Vocalist Rowetta joins the group on some dates, adding guest vocals to a set list built around two of post-punk's most influential catalogues.
Hook opened the FAC 251 club in Manchester in February 2010, and on 18 May 2010, the thirtieth anniversary of Ian Curtis's death, the band performed every track from Unknown Pleasures. Their debut EP, 1102 | 2011, appeared that May with four Joy Division songs, and the group began playing Closer live later that month. A second North American tour in September 2011 saw Perry Farrell, Moby and Billy Corgan join them on stage. In January 2013 the focus shifted to New Order, with Movement and Power, Corruption & Lies performed at KOKO in London and Manchester Cathedral, the latter released as a live album by Play Concert.
