About Pinkshift

Pinkshift started as a campus project in Baltimore before finding a wider audience online. Their sound pairs pop-punk with grunge and alt rock, which Kerrang! says carries whispers of many other punk and rock influences. Nirvana, Arctic Monkeys and No Doubt are among the names the band has cited. Vocalist Ashrita Kumar, guitarist Paul Vallejo and drummer Myron Houngbedji make up the line-up, and the group has used its platform to speak on racial diversity, Palestine and gender inclusivity.

The turning point came in 2020, when 'i'm gonna tell my therapist on you', their second single, went viral on Reddit and drew support from punk musicians including Chris No. 2 of Anti-Flag. Their debut EP, Saccharine, followed in April 2021, and their debut album Love Me Forever arrived via Hopeless Records in October 2022. A second EP, Suraksha, came out in October 2023. Pinkshift opened for Pussy Riot on their North American tour in 2023, played some 2024 dates alongside The Gaslight Anthem, and supported the Linda Lindas on their 2025 North American tour. Their second album, Earthkeeper, is due on 29 August 2025.
