About The Ragga Twins

Hackney has produced few pairings as central to London's jungle story as The Ragga Twins, the MC duo of Deman Rockers and Flinty Badman. Their ragga-tinged vocals first took shape on the Unity sound system, and they are widely regarded as pioneers of the scene. AllMusic judged them vital components in the growth of UK dance music, a verdict that makes them hard to leave out of any serious account of the form.

Their breakthrough arrived in the early 1990s with a clutch of singles, among them "Spliffhead", "Wipe the Needle", "Hooligan 69" and "Mixed Truth", produced by Shut Up & Dance, followed by the album Reggae Owes Me Money in 1991. After returning on Positiva in 1995, they kept releasing tracks into the 2000s, and their longest collaboration is with Aquasky, cemented in 2001. In 2004 HBO chose their track "Dem No No We" for Ali G in Da USA. More recently, they released "Too Much Madness" in 2023 and "We are Junglists" in 2025, the year Deman Rockers returned to performing at the Isle of Wight Festival after emergency surgery following a fall in 2024.
