About Richie Hawtin
Few figures have shaped minimal techno as directly as Richie Hawtin. Born in Banbury, Oxfordshire, and raised near Windsor, Ontario, he came to the music through Detroit's techno scene, joining its second wave in the early 1990s. As Plastikman and F.U.S.E., he stripped house and techno back to rhythm and texture, an approach that has run through his work since the mid-1990s.
Plus 8, which he founded with John Acquaviva and named after a turntable's pitch control, was followed by his M-nus label in 1998. In 2006 he worked with choreographer Enzo Cosimi on "9.20" for the Winter Olympics opening ceremony. The 2011 box set Arkives 1993 - 2010 gathered his Plastikman output, and in December 2015 the LP From My Mind To Yours marked Plus 8's 25th anniversary, reaching the UK dance album top 20 in its first week.
