About Rival Sons

Long Beach, California gave Rival Sons their starting point, while Nashville, Tennessee remains part of their story. Their sound centres on Jay Buchanan, a singer with solo releases behind him, whom guitarist Scott Holiday tracked down on MySpace while searching for a frontman in 2006. Holiday, Dave Beste on bass and Michael Miley on drums complete the current line-up, and the group now records for Atlantic Records through Dave Cobb's label Low Country Sound, an imprint of Elektra.

Their debut album, Before the Fire, arrived in 2009 with production by Dave Cobb, and Pressure & Time followed in June 2011 on Earache Records, reaching nineteen on the Billboard Hot 100 with a cover by Storm Thorgerson, who had worked with Pink Floyd and Led Zeppelin. The track Torture featured in the film Real Steel that October, and the band had already supported AC/DC, Alice Cooper and Kid Rock. Head Down followed, recorded in Nashville in 2012 with Cobb and Vance Powell. Across eight albums and one EP, the group has twice been nominated for Grammy awards.
