About Roben og Knud
Few Danish acts have built a catalogue as thoroughly around animals as Roben & Knud. This Copenhagen-based pop and rock quartet writes humorous songs, and their best-known numbers include "Uranhjorten", "Tine Pingvin", "Hej lille tulipan" and "Puma (Stork)". Newer songs such as "Pippi" and "Sommerfugl" have also found a following. The line-up is Rasmus Normann Nielsen (Roben), Anders Vibholm (Knud), Morten Brix (Papa Soleil) and Andreas Nielsen (Haßan O.).
The band began in 1997 with a gig at Rust in Copenhagen, where Morten Brix needed a support act and invited two unknown lads from Farum. Morten joined the bill himself, and bassist Andreas came along on the spur of the moment. They never rehearsed, but the chemistry was there from the start. Their debut album and the single "Tine Pingvin" broke them through in 1998, Morseper followed in 2001, and a major show at Roskilde Festival in 2002 marked the peak. After Vivaldi & ven was poorly reviewed, they split and played farewell concerts, but soon returned. Recent releases include "Vladimir" in 2023, a protest song, and "Glædelig Kenneth", their first Christmas song, in 2025.
