About Robyn
Robyn's songs tend to arrive dressed for the dancefloor and then reveal something heavier underneath. The Swedish singer, songwriter and producer, born in Stockholm in 1979, pairs upbeat, dance-oriented music with melancholic lyrics, a tension that led The Guardian to call her the 'stateswoman of alt-pop'. Raised around her parents' independent theatre group, she has spoken about how clothing can reshape a personality, an idea that shaped her sense of style.
Her 1995 debut, Robyn Is Here, delivered two Billboard Hot 100 top-10 singles: 'Do You Know (What It Takes)' and 'Show Me Love'. After founding Konichiwa Records and going independent, she returned with her 2005 self-titled album, which earned a Grammy nomination and sent 'With Every Heartbeat' to number one in the UK. Her 2010 album Body Talk, the culmination of a trilogy of mini-albums, produced 'Dancing on My Own', now regarded as her signature song. Honey followed in 2018, and after an eight-year hiatus came Sexistential, which includes the top-ten single 'Dopamine'.
