Rodhad

Few techno producers are equally at home behind the decks and in the studio, yet Mike Bierbach manages that balance under the name Rødhåd. Born in 1984, he grew up in East Berlin and still lives in the city. Rødhåd, a name that translates as 'red head', is a German techno producer and DJ whose work in both roles is known in equal measure, a balance that gives his studio output and live sets a shared identity.

In 2009 Bierbach co-founded Dystopian, a series of parties that grew into a record label, so club nights and releases sit under one banner. He is also associated with Berghain, the Berlin nightclub. Together, the party series, the label and that Berlin association trace a path from the dancefloor to the catalogue, and explain why Rødhåd is discussed as much for his records as for his sets.
