About Rolling Stones
Few bands have outlasted their own legend quite like the Rolling Stones. Formed in England in 1962, the group grew out of a Dartford friendship between Mick Jagger and Keith Richards and, in its early years, built a gritty, rhythmically driven sound rooted in blues and early rock and roll that helped shape hard rock. Over six decades of activity, they have been among the most influential and enduring acts of the rock era.
Their breakthrough came with their own songs rather than covers: "(I Can't Get No) Satisfaction" and "Paint It Black" reached number one internationally, and Aftermath (1966) was their first album made entirely of original material. The 1970s brought Sticky Fingers, the first release on their own label, Rolling Stones Records, and Exile on Main St. (1972). Steel Wheels (1989) was widely considered a comeback, and by 2007 they had broken the all-time highest-grossing tour record three times. Hackney Diamonds (2023) gave them their fourteenth UK number-one album, and Foreign Tongues, released in July 2026, added a fifteenth.
