About Rosalía
Few pop singers have moved as freely between traditions as Rosalía, the Catalan-raised Spanish singer-songwriter and actress whose work pulls flamenco into the orbit of pop, hip-hop and reggaeton. Her route began with Spanish folk music, which captivated her at fourteen, and led to a degree in musicology from the Catalonia College of Music in 2017. Critics have called her an unconventional pop figure, and the label sits comfortably with a body of work that treats genre as material rather than border.
El mal querer (2018) reworked flamenco through pop and hip-hop, and its singles 'Malamente' and 'Pienso en tu mirá' won critical praise at home. The album took the Latin Grammy for Album of the Year and a place on Rolling Stone's 500 Greatest Albums list, and it marked the start of her international profile. Motomami (2022) turned to reggaeton, with 'La Fama', 'Saoko' and 'Despechá' carrying it abroad, and it became the best reviewed album of the year on Metacritic. Her fourth album, Lux (2025), broke several all-time records for a Spanish-speaking female artist.
