About Sgt. Splendor

Sgt. Splendor sits at the crossing of folk and psychedelia, with its sound filed under alternative, psychedelic and folk rock. The group takes its identity from two cities, New York and New Orleans, and from the pairing of Kate Vargas and Eric McFadden, who make up its core. The fact listing names only these two, so the project reads as a close partnership, and that partnership is the thread running through its catalogue.

The catalogue so far runs to three albums. Occasions for Self-Congratulations appeared in 2022, Death of the Hoochie Koo followed in 2023, and Isotopia, the most recent, is dated 2025. Three albums between 2022 and 2025 give the project a clear sequence to follow, with each title marking a point along the way. No other milestones are on record yet, so the releases themselves carry the story of the act for now.
