About Shaun Cassidy

Few performers have moved as easily between the pop charts, the stage and the writers' room as Shaun Cassidy. Born in 1958 to actress Shirley Jones and Jack Cassidy, a Tony Award-winning actor, he grew up between Los Angeles and New York, and his career has run on parallel tracks of music and screen. Today many viewers know him as a television creator and screenwriter, with credits that run from American Gothic to New Amsterdam.

He signed to Curb Records, a division of Warner Bros. Records, while still at Beverly Hills High School. His debut album, Shaun Cassidy, arrived in 1977 and produced the Billboard Hot 100 number one 'Da Doo Ron Ron', earning a Grammy nomination for Best New Artist. The same year he starred in The Hardy Boys on ABC, which ran until 1979. While appearing with his half-brother David Cassidy in the Broadway production of Blood Brothers, he wrote the pilot for American Gothic, which led to a long-term contract with Universal Television. Roar followed in 1997, starring Heath Ledger. His one-man show The Magic of a Midnight Sky marked his first live music performance in almost forty years.
