About Sierra Ferrell
Sierra Ferrell, a singer-songwriter from West Virginia, folds folk and bluegrass together with gypsy jazz, tango and calypso, a mix that sounds unlikely on paper and rather natural in her hands. Her roots lie in a childhood spent with her mother's cassettes of '90s music, from 10,000 Maniacs to Tracy Chapman, rather than in the bluegrass her home state is known for. Years of busking and hitch-hiking along the route between Seattle and New Orleans shaped the voice that later drew attention.
Ferrell put out two albums of her own, Pretty Magic Spell in 2018 and Washington by the Sea in 2019, selling them while busking and posting videos to YouTube. A producer, Gary Paczosa, whose credits include work with Alison Krauss and Dolly Parton, heard her performing at a weekly Nashville night and helped sign her to Rounder Records. Long Time Coming arrived in 2021, featuring Sarah Jarosz and Billy Strings, and Trail of Flowers followed in March 2024, earning four Grammy Awards. In February 2026 she appeared on Saturday Night Live with Mumford & Sons.
