Skindred

Reggae rhythms and heavy metal riffs sit side by side in Skindred's music, and the Welsh band's live shows have drawn as much attention as their records. Formed in Newport in 1998, they fuse metal with reggae and other genres, and their energetic performances have earned awards including Best Live Band at the 2011 UK Metal Hammer Golden Gods Awards and the Devotion Award at the 2011 Kerrang! Awards. Their roots lie in Dub War, the Newport group whose metal crossover sound lead vocalist Benji Webbe and his bandmates later refined in Skindred.

Their debut album, Babylon, appeared in 2002 and topped the Billboard Top Reggae Albums chart in the United States, while its single "Nobody" reached No. 14 on the Mainstream Rock Tracks chart. Further releases followed, including Roots Rock Riot in 2007 and Union Black in 2011, which took the band through UK dates and European festivals such as Download and Wacken Open Air. Kill the Power arrived in 2014, then Volume in 2015 and Big Tings in 2018. The eighth album, Smile, pushed them to Number 2 on the UK Albums Chart in 2023, and their ninth, You Got This, in 2026 became their first album to reach Number 1 there.
