About Skoop On Somebody
Three musicians who met in Osaka in 1995 and clicked straight away, Skoop On Somebody have made a name for doing almost everything themselves: lead and backing vocals, playing and most of the songwriting. The group began as SKOOP and changed to its current name with the single 'ama-oto' in June 2000. Live work has remained central to them, and after the rename the trio took to street performances as a three-piece.
Their route to a major label began in February 1996, when a demo called 'ACT OF THE FACT' led to a deal with Sony Records. Their major debut came in 1997 with the single 'No Make de On The Bed', and they later moved to SME Records. In 2001 'sha la la' became a hit through a Nivea body-care commercial. The wider breakthrough arrived in 2002 with 'ぼくが地球を救う〜Sounds Of Spirit〜', the theme to the TBS drama of the same name, their first single to reach the Oricon top ten. Drummer KO-HEY stepped away in 2009 and left in 2011, leaving TAKE and KO-ICHIRO to continue, before he rejoined the group in December 2021.
