About Skye Newman
Skye Newman's path into music starts at home. The English singer-songwriter hails from SE9, in south-east London, and credits her aunt Moona, a jazz and blues singer, as a formative influence on her music. Newman sang Cup Song at her aunt's funeral, a moment that shows how deep those roots run. Her musical inspirations include Amy Winehouse, Adele, Bob Marley and Eminem.
Her debut single, "Hairdresser", entered the UK Singles Chart on release in March 2025 and peaked at number 15 in April. Its follow-up single, "Family Matters", gave her a first UK top 10 hit, reaching number five in June. Both chart entries came in the same year. October brought her debut extended play, SE9 Part 1. Earlier, she had attended BRIT Kids, the Saturday school for kids and teenagers linked to the BRIT School, though she failed her auditions for the BRIT School itself.
