About Stockholms Kammarkör
Thirty singers make up Stockholms Kammarkör, yet the choir's programming is broader than its size might suggest. Founded in 1981 as an independent mixed choir, it sings both sacred and secular music, moving between large works for choir and orchestra, older and contemporary a cappella pieces, and the Swedish tradition of choral poetry. That breadth gives its concerts a wide range of texture and period, and it runs through nearly everything the group does in the Stockholm area.
The choir performs regularly around the capital and has worked for many years with Ulriksdals Slottsteater Confidencen, most visibly at a Valborgsmässoafton concert featuring the opera singer Kjerstin Dellert, alongside a further concert each year. Its recent productions include Bach's St John Passion, Carmina Burana at Folkoperan and Globen, the Konserthuset's Christmas concerts and Handel's Messiah. Tours have taken it to Canada, Russia, Italy and France, and in October it performed Bernstein's Missa Brevis and Chichester Psalms in Stockholm and Gävle.
