About Story of the Year

Story of the Year began life in St. Louis, Missouri, in 1995 as 67 North, a nu metal outfit that went through two name changes before settling on its current identity in 2002. Their route to that point ran through years of local gigs, demos and three EPs, and a move to Orange County, California. On their podcast they later admitted the name was simply one they disliked, and the blues-band story an excuse.

The breakthrough arrived eight years after formation with Page Avenue (2003), a Maverick release carried by "Until the Day I Die" and "Anthem of Our Dying Day", the latter with a video directed by Joe Hahn of Linkin Park. It was certified Gold and had sold 846,000 US copies by 2007. In the Wake of Determination debuted at No. 19 on the Billboard 200 but did not match that success. The Black Swan followed on Epitaph in 2008, its single "Wake Up" leading the way, and The Constant arrived in 2010. Wolves was crowdfunded through PledgeMusic in 2017, and Tear Me to Pieces came out in March 2023 ahead of a 2023–2024 world tour.
