About Strife

Three players, two studio albums and a sound that moves between hard rock and progressive rock: that is the compact case for Strife, a British trio who were active in the mid-1970s. John Reid handles guitar, vocals and songwriting, while Gordon Rowley plays bass and also takes credit for production, and David Williams keeps time on drums. Their work moves between hard rock and progressive rock, the two genres that give the band its identity.

Their first album, Rush, came out on Chrysalis in 1975, and the trio returned in 1978 with Back To Thunder on the Gull label. Between the two albums came the single School, released in 1977 on EMI International. A live record followed in 2006: Rockin' The Boat - Live at The Nottingham Boat Club, issued by Timeline Records as TLCD 003. Recorded at the Nottingham venue, it documents the band's stage work, with the studio catalogue standing at two albums.
