About Struggle Jennings

Before taking the name Struggle Jennings, William Curtis Harness Jr. was a Nashville rapper selling mixtapes out of his car. The surname is no accident. He spent much of his childhood with Waylon Jennings, his grandmother's second husband, and his uncle is the country-rock singer Shooter Jennings. He was one of the original names on Yelawolf's Slumerican roster, alongside Bubba Sparxxx, and his titles, from Angels & Outlaws to Return of the Outlaw, openly embrace the outlaw image.

His mixtape career began around 2002, and the 2003 tape Strugglin' Til We Make It, made with Wyteboy Slim, is the oldest he is known to have released. Drug-related charges led to incarceration in 2011, and after his release in 2016 he issued Return of the Outlaw through Slumerican. Working with Jelly Roll, he made the Waylon & Willie albums, and in January 2019 the collaborative EP Sunny Days with his daughter Brianna Harness reached number three on Billboard's Blues Albums chart. Angels & Outlaws, released in November 2019, peaked at number eight on the iTunes Alternative chart, and Outlaw Shit, made with Adam Calhoun in April 2021, went to number one on the iTunes Rap chart on release day.
