About Taking Back Sunday

Few groups from Amityville, New York, have left a mark on the early-2000s emo boom quite like Taking Back Sunday. Guitarist Eddie Reyes and bassist Jesse Lacey founded the band in late 1999, and it has been described as one of the more visible groups of that moment. Adam Lazzara, who moved from North Carolina to join, later became the frontman. Their name came from a song by fellow Long Island band The Waiting Process.

Their debut, Tell All Your Friends, arrived on Victory Records in 2002, following sessions in New Jersey that cost around $10,000. Louder Now marked the breakthrough in 2006, carried by the lead single 'MakeDamnSure', which sold over 900,000 copies and peaked at No. 2 on the Billboard 200. Their eighth studio album, 152, came out in 2023. Consequence placed them 38th on its 2019 list of the 100 best pop punk bands.
