About Teddy Swims

Jaten Collin Dimsdale, the American singer better known as Teddy Swims, builds his music from R&B, soul, hip-hop and contemporary pop, and that genre-blending is central to his work. He was born and raised in Conyers, Georgia, where his father introduced him to soul early on through Marvin Gaye, Stevie Wonder and Al Green. His stage name comes from internet forum slang, an acronym for “Someone Who Isn’t Me Sometimes”, which suits a performer who likes to work in character.

Swims began posting cover versions on YouTube in 2019, including Michael Jackson’s “Rock with You” and a take on Shania Twain’s “You’re Still the One”, which had reached 167 million views by January 2024. He signed with Warner Records in December 2019 and released the Tough Love EP in 2022, his first entry on the Billboard 200. His debut studio album, I’ve Tried Everything but Therapy (Part 1), followed in 2023, carried by “Lose Control”, which topped the Billboard Hot 100 the following year. In 2024, MTV named him its Push Artist of February.
