About The Temperance Movement

Few bands arrive with as much prior experience as The Temperance Movement. Glasgow-born vocalist Phil Campbell, formerly of White Buffalo, came together in 2011 with guitarists Luke Potashnick and Paul Sayer, while bassist Nick Fyffe and drummer Simon Lea anchor the rhythm section. Between them the players had worked alongside Jamiroquai, Ray Davies, The Waterboys and Feeder, and that experience feeds into their blues rock sound.

The Pride EP appeared in September 2012 with five tracks, among them "Ain't No Telling" and "Lovers & Fighters". The band's self-titled debut album followed on 16 September 2013 on Earache Records, with seven new songs alongside the EP material. Before that, they had opened the 2012 Sunflower Jam SuperJam at the Royal Albert Hall. In June 2014 they were the guest band for the Rolling Stones in Berlin, Düsseldorf and Vienna. White Bear, produced by Sam Miller, arrived in January 2016 and reached number 18 in the UK albums chart. After Phil Campbell left in 2020, Covers & Rarities gave the band their fourth UK Top 40 album, peaking at number 38. A 2025 tour features a line-up with Campbell, Potashnick, Sayer, Fyffe and Lea back together.
