About Tenille Townes
Tenille Townes took her surname from the township road she grew up on in Grande Prairie, Alberta. Her introduction to country came from her parents and grandparents, who played it on long drives, and she has built her career on songs that look hard at family and home. Nominated for a Canadian Country Music Award for Female Artist of the Year in 2011, when she was just 17, she was already attracting attention well beyond her home province.
At nine she went to a Shania Twain concert on the Up! Tour holding a sign that asked to sing with her, and Twain agreed. In 2009 she released "Home Now", written from the perspective of a daughter whose father is posted to Afghanistan, produced by Duane Steele. Her debut album, Real, came out in June 2011, followed by Light in March 2013, the year she moved to Nashville. In 2018 she signed with Columbia Nashville, and "Somebody's Daughter" became her first chart entry and a Canadian Country number one. The Acrobat, her fourth album, is due on April 10 via her own Township Records.
