About Tinie Tempah
Tinie Tempah's stage name began with a thesaurus open in a school classroom, and it has since become familiar across the British charts. Born Patrick Chukwuemeka Okogwu in London in November 1988, he grew up on the Aylesbury Estate before his family moved to Plumstead. Alongside rapping and singing, he presents television, and his independent company Disturbing London, founded in 2006 with Dumi Oburota, gave him a base of his own from the start.
His breakthrough came in 2010 with the number-one singles "Pass Out" and "Written in the Stars", and his debut album Disc-Overy, released that October, also reached the top of the chart before going platinum the following year. Two Brit Awards in 2011, for Best British Breakthrough Act and Best British Single, confirmed his standing. Demonstration followed in November 2013, carried by the top ten singles "Trampoline" and "Children of the Sun", and peaked at number three. In 2015, "Not Letting Go" gave him a sixth UK number one, moving him past Dizzee Rascal as the UK rap artist with the most.
