About Tom Gaebel

Tom Gaebel leads a big band named after himself, and he also sings, arranges and writes his lyrics in English. Born in Gelsenkirchen in North Rhine-Westphalia in January 1975, he grew up in a musical family, and his brother Denis plays tenor saxophone in the ensemble. He dropped the umlaut from his surname and took a major in jazz singing at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam.

Before forming his own group in 2005, he had sung with The Young Sinatras and the Tobias Kremer Big Band. His debut solo album, Introducing: Myself, became a best seller, followed in 2006 by the live DVD Live in Concert. Good Life (2007) featured more of his original numbers, while Don't Wanna Dance spotlighted a move into pop and soul, with songs influenced by Motown. In 2010 he released Music to Watch Girls By, focused on late 1960s easy listening ballads and uptempo numbers, and the Christmas album Easy Christmas. He received JAZZ awards in 2006 and 2007, and in June 2010 he performed at the Sommerfest for Federal President Christian Wulff at Castle Bellevue in Berlin.
