About Tom Meighan
Few frontmen in British rock have divided opinion quite like Tom Meighan. Born in Blaby in January 1981 to an English nurse and an Irish window cleaner, he grew up on Motown and soul, and sang Cypress Hill songs constantly as a boy. Those tastes sit behind an intense, frenetic presence on and off stage. He has been likened to Liam Gallagher, whom he has praised as the perfect frontman, and Radio X's poll of the greatest frontmen placed him 13th.
Meighan co-founded Kasabian in Leicester in 1997 and fronted them until 2020, a run that produced six studio albums, five UK number-one albums and four top-10 singles. Beyond the band, he took the role of Terry Graham in the sitcom pilot Walk Like a Panther in 2011, and in 2013 began Mic Rockers with rapper Wottee Watnot. In 2020 he left Kasabian, and the following day pleaded guilty to assaulting his fiancée; the remaining members said domestic violence can never be excused. His solo debut, The Reckoning, arrived in May 2023 and peaked at number 17 on the UK albums chart. Then RoadRunner followed in January 2025.
