About Train

Train, the pop rock band from San Francisco, took shape after Pat Monahan left his Erie, Pennsylvania, home for California in late 1993 and crossed paths with Rob Hotchkiss, a Berklee College of Music alumnus working the local coffee houses and clubs. Their early partnership, with the two trading lead vocals, gave the group its foundation, and through many lineup changes Monahan has remained the sole constant original member.

The 1998 debut album brought national fame and the single "Meet Virginia", but it was 2001's Drops of Jupiter that made the band a major name, its lead single spending 54 weeks on the Billboard Hot 100 and winning two Grammy Awards in 2002. My Private Nation followed in 2003 with "Calling All Angels", and after For Me, It's You proved commercially unsuccessful in 2006, Monahan, Jimmy Stafford and Scott Underwood regrouped as a trio for Save Me, San Francisco in 2009, whose "Hey, Soul Sister" hit number three on the Hot 100. The 2012 album California 37 produced "Drive By", a number ten hit in the US.
