About Turnpike Troubadours

Out of Tahlequah, Oklahoma, the Turnpike Troubadours have worked the seam where red dirt, honky-tonk and roots rock meet since Evan Felker and R.C. Edwards founded the group in 2005. Their sound also draws on Americana, bluegrass and Cajun textures, and the critic Mark Deming called them a country-leaning roots rock band whose records pair barroom grit with political folk.

The band launched its own imprint, Bossier City Records, in 2007, and their debut album of the same name was cut a month after the group formed. Diamonds & Gasoline followed in 2010. Their self-titled 2015 album reached number 17 on the Billboard 200 and number three on the Top Country Albums chart, and A Long Way from Your Heart came out in 2017. Cancelled shows in late 2018 and the cancellation of all 2019 tour dates left the band's future open until a January 2022 reunion announcement led to shows at Cain's Ballroom and Red Rocks Amphitheatre that spring. A Cat in the Rain arrived in August 2023, and The Price of Admission, their second album produced by Shooter Jennings, appeared unannounced in April 2025.
