About Tyketto

Brooklyn graffiti gave Tyketto its name before the group had a record deal to its credit. The New York City outfit took shape in 1987 when Danny Vaughn, who had previously fronted Waysted, teamed up with guitarist Brooke St. James, bassist Jimi Kennedy and drummer Michael Clayton. Working within American hard rock, they arrived with a seasoned frontman and a line-up eager to make its mark on the city's scene.

By 1989 the band had signed to Geffen Records and released Don't Come Easy, which featured the single 'Forever Young'. Their momentum faltered as grunge rose in 1991, and after Kennedy's departure Jaimie Scott joined on bass. A second album, rejected by Geffen, finally surfaced in 1994 as Strength in Numbers through CMC International in the US and Music for Nations elsewhere. Vaughn left in 1995, with Steve Augeri, later of Journey, taking over vocals for Shine. The band split in 1996, reunited in 2004, and has since released two further albums alongside periodic tours.
