About Utah Saints

Few British dance acts have raided pop history as openly as Utah Saints, lifting vocals and hooks from Kate Bush, Eurythmics and the Human League and setting them against contrasting beats. The English duo of Jez Willis and Tim Garbutt grew out of the Mix Nightclub in Harrogate, where they promoted nights and DJed in the early 1990s. Writing, producing and mixing everything themselves, they drew a description from Bill Drummond of the KLF, who called them the first true stadium house band; their music still resists any single genre.

Their chart run under the Utah Saints name opened with three top-ten singles: "What Can You Do for Me" at No. 10, "Something Good" at No. 4 and "Believe in Me" at No. 8. The second drew on Kate Bush's "Cloudbusting", and a 2008 revival with new vocals by Davina Perera reached No. 1 on the UK Dance Chart. After a debut album and "Ohio" they took a long break, returning in 1999 with "Love Song" and the album Two. Since 2007 they have curated a stage at Beatherder Festival every year.
