About The Velveteers
Two drummers playing at once is the Velveteers' defining quirk. The Boulder, Colorado group uses that setup in place of a bass line, giving their garage and alternative rock a loose, physical momentum. Fuzzed guitars and driving rhythms sit at the heart of the sound, with punk and glam rock edges showing through. Their work with producer Dan Auerbach of the Black Keys favours live takes captured in the studio, with minimal overdubs.
The duo took shape in 2014, when lead vocalist and guitarist Demi Demitro met Baby Pottersmith at a local concert. Before their debut they issued independent singles including “Death Hex” and a T. Rex cover, “Lean Woman Blues”, plus a self-titled EP. Nightmare Daydream followed on 8 October 2021 through Easy Eye Sound, recorded in Nashville with Auerbach, and its lead single “Charmer And The Snake” helped establish them on the national rock scene. A Million Knives, their sophomore album, arrived on 14 February 2025, again produced by Auerbach in Nashville. Along the way they have opened for Guns N' Roses and Smashing Pumpkins and toured with the Black Keys.
