About Voodoo Glow Skulls

Born from backyard parties in Riverside, California, Voodoo Glow Skulls are a ska punk band whose horn section arrived in 1991, partly thanks to Fishbone and Red Hot Chili Peppers. Brothers Frank, Eddie and Jorge Casillas founded the group in 1988 with their longtime friend Jerry O'Neill, and early gigs at Spanky's Café put them alongside The Dickies and The Mighty Mighty Bosstones.

Their first recording, a four-song demo from 1989, was copied onto about sixty cassettes and sold at shows. The 1990 EP The Old of Tomorrow was followed by Rasta Mis Huevos in 1992, and their debut album Who Is, This Is? for Dr. Strange Records in 1993 caught the attention of Epitaph's Brett Gurewitz. After signing to Epitaph they toured Europe, Japan, Australia, Mexico and South America, and their ninth album, Break the Spell, came out on Smelvis Records in January 2012. Frank Casillas left in 2017, Efrem Schulz took over on vocals, and Casillas rejoined in September 2024 for a show at the Regent Theater in Los Angeles.
