WARGASM

A London duo with a shared fondness for nu metal, Wargasm are a band whose electro-punk, riot grrrl and nu metal leanings have drawn critics' attention. Sam Matlock, who had performed in Dead!, and Milkie Way, who had photographed that band's concerts, formed the act in 2018 after bonding over Limp Bizkit. Their name is borrowed from an L7 song, and the 'UK' suffix separates them from other bands with the same name in the United States, Finland, Sweden and France.

Their debut single, Post Modern Rhapsody, appeared in August 2019, and a cover of N.E.R.D.'s Lapdance followed in early 2020. Their own God of War later became the theme for NXT UK. The 2022 mixtape Explicit: The Mixxxtape charted at No. 19 on the UK Rock & Metal Albums Chart, and the debut album Venom reached No. 88 on the UK Albums Chart in 2023. A 2021 Scala show ended with security guards assaulting Matlock, and the pair took Best New Noise at the 2022 Kerrang! Awards.
