About Widowspeak
Few debut albums carry their identity as openly as Widowspeak's self-titled 2011 record, which introduced an American indie rock band from Brooklyn, New York City. At its core is Molly Hamilton, whose guitar and voice anchor a group that grew out of a long friendship: she and Michael Stasiak, both natives of Tacoma, Washington, had known each other since their teens. Guitarist Robert Earl Thomas joined them soon after, and the trio's sound has been the thread running through every release since.
The album drew critical acclaim, and its single "Harsh Realm" found a wider audience when it featured in an episode of American Horror Story. After extensive touring, Stasiak and bassist Pamela Garavano-Coolbaugh left the group, and the band turned to recording its second album, Almanac, with producer Kevin McMahon. Sessions took place in a century-old barn in the Hudson River Valley, and the record appeared in January 2013, followed by All Yours in 2015 and Expect the Best in 2017. Plum arrived in 2020, The Jacket in 2022, and the seventh album, Roses, was released on 5 June 2026 by Captured Tracks.
