About The Wood Brothers
Brothers Chris and Oliver Wood have spent years on separate paths before reuniting, and their music, which blends folk, gospel, blues and jazz, grew out of a childhood in Boulder, Colorado. Their late father, a scientist who had recorded with Joan Baez on the 1960 album Folksingers 'Round Harvard Square, played classic songs at campfires, while their mother's love of storytelling ran through the house. Joined by multi-instrumentalist Jano Rix, the trio plays as an American roots band.
Oliver settled in Atlanta, played in cover bands, joined Tinsley Ellis's touring act and went on to front King Johnson, which released six albums. Chris studied jazz bass at the New England Conservatory and co-founded Medeski Martin & Wood in 1992. Their paths converged on 24 May 2001 when Oliver sat in with MMW in North Carolina. Blue Note issued their first studio album, Ways Not To Lose, in 2006, and The Muse brought their first Billboard chart success in 2013. Paradise, on Easy Eye Sound, reached number 12 on the US Country chart, and Heart Is the Hero, their ninth studio album, came out in April 2023.
