Zetra

Two people, a clutch of riffs that fitted nowhere else, and a London summer in 2018: that is how Zetra began. Adam on guitar and vocals and Jordan on synthesisers and vocals had both played in heavier bands before, and their music carries that weight into a gothic heavy metal shoegaze haze shaped by synth-pop and new wave. Metal Hammer described it as an icy, enveloping mix of 80s-inspired synth-pop and goth-metal heaviness.

Their early output came largely through Bandcamp, with several EPs and cassette runs, and the With Your Demons collection from May 2020 sold out its double cassette edition within a week. The self-titled debut EP followed in July 2020 on Death Waltz Records, a concept piece about the Soviet astronaut Vladimir Komarov. Live dates opened for Video Nasties, Unto Others and Creeper, with a Roundhouse show in London in November 2022 before they signed to Nuclear Blast Records in 2023. Their self-titled debut album arrived on 13 September 2024, with guest spots from Solveig Mathildur of Kaelan Mikla and Gabriel Franco of Unto Others.
