About ZillaKami
Born Junius Donald Rogers in Bay Shore, New York, ZillaKami came to trap by way of punk. As a teenager he formed Scud Got Quayle, a band shaped by Gorilla Biscuits, and that hardcore lineage shows: electric guitars and guttural shouted vocals sit beside trap beats, while the lyrics dwell on extreme violence, death and drug use. Complex's Jacob Moore called his music "the most merciless rap music since Necro", a judgement that explains his standing in the trap metal sub-genre.
His path into hip hop ran through ghostwriting for 6ix9ine, which produced "Yokai" and "Hellsing Station" before the pair fell out in 2017. His debut EP, LifeIsAHorrorMovie, appeared that April and was later withdrawn. With SosMula he then formed City Morgue, whose debut EP Be Patient came out in 2018, followed by the album Hell or High Water that October. Guest spots on Denzel Curry's Ta13oo and Lil Gnar's "Man Down" followed, along with a place on the 2018 Grey Day tour with Suicideboys. Their second album, As Good as Dead, arrived in December 2019, and the final studio album, My Bloody America, in September 2023 was the last record they made as a duo.
