Deep Purple call off remaining European tour after Ian Gillan's hospital stay
Deep Purple have postponed the rest of their SPLAT! World Tour in Europe and the UK indefinitely after singer Ian Gillan was treated in hospital. Dates in Germany are among those affected.

Deep Purple have cancelled the remainder of their European and UK tour. Singer Ian Gillan needed hospital treatment for a medical problem while the band were in Leipzig. The group describe the dates as postponed "until further notice" and have given no new schedule.
Following the already cancelled shows in Leipzig and Hamburg, the decision covers every remaining European date on the SPLAT! World Tour. From 4 November the band were due to play Dortmund, Berlin, Frankfurt and Nuremberg, followed by a run of dates in the Netherlands, France and the UK. Those dates are still listed on the band's official website.
Gillan's statement
Gillan addressed fans on Monday in a personal message on the band's Instagram account. He first thanked them for their good wishes over the past few days, saying they meant "the world" to him. He then explained the reason for the cancellation:
A medical problem arose while I was in Leipzig that required urgent hospital treatment. I had hoped to get the green light to carry on with the tour to the end, but that would involve very serious risks.
The decision to postpone the rest of the tour was taken on the advice of his medical team and management, Gillan went on.
Make-up dates and future plans
After the cancellations in Leipzig and Hamburg, the band had announced replacement dates at short notice. There has been no further word on those lately. The same applies to the band's other plans: Deep Purple were due to tour South America in December, and a show in Poland had been pencilled in for June 2027. No statement has been made on either.
The cancellation was first reported by laut.de.
