Writing 'Year Of The Snake'
According to Dork, 'Year Of The Snake' was written after most of 'Doveland' was complete, during a further trip to the Scottish Highlands by Dave Maclean and vocalist Vincent Neff. Maclean describes it as deeply personal.
"It's a personal track that came out of losing my sister and trying to battle through darkness to find light."
He adds: "It's about embracing that darkness and embracing the night and staying strong enough to ride it out until the new dawn comes."
About 'Doveland'
The album was produced during extended sessions in the German countryside and the Highlands. Dork says it draws on memory, isolation, loss and the search for somewhere else. Its title comes from an online urban myth about a supposedly vanished Midwestern town that appears on no maps.
The artwork was made with the mother-and-daughter mudlarking team Northern Mudlarks, using historical objects found along riverbanks in the Scottish Borders.
The new single follows 'Cameos', 'Dirty Hotel Blues' and 'Feel Alright', which features Max Pope and closes the album. Hak Baker also appears on 'Little Me'. Dork's earlier coverage describes 'Doveland' as the band's sixth album and refers to their previous project 'Off Planet'.
