About Alexandra Palace Theatre

The Alexandra Palace Theatre was built in 1873 for opera and ballet, and a fire destroyed it within weeks. It was rebuilt when the wider Palace reopened in 1875. Beneath the stage sits a 22-foot cellar that once housed complex machinery for scene changes and moving performers, and that equipment is now among the country's rare survivors of its kind. The room is Grade II listed and endured years of neglect before reopening in 2018 after a refurbishment that consolidated it and held its decline at bay.

The main styles booked are rock, indie and alternative, and pop, with 16 upcoming shows and four in the next 30 days. Headliners include Beth Orton, Fat Freddy's Drop, The Courteeners, Rizzle Kicks, Enter Shikari, Blossoms, Gorgon City and Bonobo. Shows usually start around 18:30, and tickets have been seen from £10.
