About Clapham Common Park

Clapham Common is a large triangular stretch of open ground in south London, covering around 220 acres. It began life as common land shared by the parishes of Battersea and Clapham before being turned into parkland under the Metropolitan Commons Act of 1878. Three ponds and a Victorian bandstand sit within its grounds, and it is overlooked by Georgian and Victorian mansions as well as nearby Clapham Old Town.
