About Derby Cathedral
Derby Cathedral, formally the Cathedral Church of All Saints, gained cathedral status in 1927, when the former parish church was raised to seat the Bishop of Derby. Its roots reach back to a royal collegiate church founded in the mid-10th century. The main body is a Georgian rebuild by James Gibbs, completed in 1725, and the building also keeps a 16th-century tower and a 20th-century retroquire.
