About Hexham Abbey
Hexham Abbey is a Grade I listed church dedicated to St Andrew in the town of Hexham, in the North East of England. It was first raised in AD 674 and reshaped through the 12th century, with further additions around 1900. Since the monasteries were dissolved in 1537 it has served as Hexham's parish church, and since 2014 its former monastic buildings, once a magistrates' court, have housed an exhibition and visitor centre on the Abbey's history.
