About Petersen Events Center
The Petersen Events Center is a 12,508-seat multi-purpose arena on the University of Pittsburgh campus in the Oakland neighbourhood. Named after philanthropists John and Gertrude Petersen, whose $10 million gift paid for its construction, it was recognised in 2003 with an architecture and design honour from Recreation Management magazine. Pitt alumnus John Petersen, a native of nearby Erie, previously led Erie Insurance Group.
