About SAINTE-CHAPELLE
Sainte-Chapelle is a royal chapel on the Île de la Cité, an island in the Seine in central Paris. It stands within what was once the Palais de la Cité, where French kings lived until the fourteenth century. Louis IX had it raised between 1238 and 1248 to shelter his holy relics, among them the Crown of Thorns. During the Revolution those relics were removed, and they are now displayed at Notre-Dame de Paris.
